Congressman William Hurd represented Texas’ 23rd Congressional District from 2015 to 2021 (114th-116th Congresses). Between 2019 and 2021, Hurd was the only African American Republican in the House of Representatives. In Congress, Hurd served on the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence and as chair of the Information Technology Subcommittee, both subcommittees of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform. He also served as vice-chair on the Border and Maritime Subcommittee of the Homeland Security Committee. Before Congress, Hurd worked for the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) as an operations officer in Afghanistan, Pakistan, and India. He also worked as a partner with Crumpton Group LLC, a strategic advisory firm, and a senior adviser with FusionX, a cybersecurity firm. Hurd is a graduate of Texas A&M University.
