Congresswoman Robin Kelly has represented Illinois’ 2nd Congressional District since 2013 (113th Congress-Present). Kelly serves on the House Energy and Commerce Committee where she is a member of the Subcommittees on Health; Communications and Technology; and Innovation, Data, and Commerce. Her Energy and Commerce work is focused on expanding access to healthcare, consumer protection for American families and economic development. Kelly is a Co-Chair of the Congressional Gun Violence Prevention Taskforce and is the author of The 2014 Kelly Report on Gun Violence in America, the first-ever Congressional analysis of the nation’s gun violence epidemic that offers a blueprint for ending the crisis. Before joining Congress, Kelly served as a State Representative in the Illinois Legislature, where she fought for landmark legislation to protect victims of domestic violence. While in the Illinois state legislature, Kelly was chief administrative officer of Cook County where she was responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the second-largest county in the nation. Kelly earned her bachelor’s degree in Psychology and master’s degree in Counseling from Bradley University. She later received a Ph.D. in Political Science from Northern Illinois University.
