Congresswoman Lucy McBath has represented Georgia’s 6th Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives since 2019 (116th Congress-Present). McBath serves on the Committee on the Judiciary and the Committee on Education and the Workforce. She is also vice chair of the Gun Violence Prevention Task Force. One of her first legislative actions as a member of Congress was co-sponsoring H.R.R. 8, the Bipartisan Background Checks Act, which passed the U.S. House of Representatives in February 2019. Following the tragic death of her son, McBath left a 30-year career as a flight attendant to dedicate her life to preventing gun violence. She became the National Spokesperson and Faith and Outreach Leader for Everytown for Gun Safety and Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America and later ran for Congress. McBath earned a bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Virginia State University.
