Congressman Danny K. Davis has represented Illinois’s 7th Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives since 1997 (105th Congress-Present). Before coming to Congress, Davis was an educator, served on the Cook County Board of Commissioners, and was a member of the Chicago City Council. Davis currently serves on the House Ways and Means Committee where he is the ranking member of the Worker and Family Support Subcommittee. Past committee assignments include Education and Labor, Education and the Workforce, Homeland Security, and Small Business committees. Davis earned a bachelor’s degree in history from Arkansas Agricultural, Mechanical and Normal College (now the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff), a master’s degree in guidance from Chicago State University, and a Ph.D. in public administration from Union Institute & University.
