Congressman Cedric Richmond represented Louisiana’s 2nd Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives from 2011 to 2021 (112th-117th Congresses). Richmond served on the Homeland Security Committee, where he was chair of the Subcommittee on Cybersecurity, Infrastructure Protection, and Innovation. He was also a member on the Judiciary and Small Business committees. On January 15, 2021, Cedric resigned to serve as Senior Advisor and Director of the Office of Public Engagement at the White House during the Biden Administration. Richmond, a lawyer, was a Louisiana State House of Representatives member before serving in Congress. He earned a bachelor’s degree from Morehouse College and a Juris Doctor from Tulane School of Law. He also completed an executive program at Harvard University’s John F. Kennedy School of Government.
