Congressman Ritchie Torres represents New York’s 15th Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives (January 3, 2021-Present). Torres serves on the House Select Committee on the Strategic Competition between the United States and the Chinese Communist Party as well as the Committee on Financial Services. Before Congress, Torres was a New York City Councilmember where he was the youngest elected official and the first openly LGTBQ person elected to office in the Bronx. In that role, he passed over forty pieces of legislation, including legislation protecting the city’s affordable housing stock and tackling the opioid epidemic. Torres attended New York University.
