Congresswoman Marilyn Strickland has represented Washington’s 10th Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives since 2021 (117th Congress-Present). Strickland is the first African American to represent Washington at the federal level and one of the first Korean-American women elected to Congress in its 230-year history. Strickland serves on the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure and the House Armed Services Committee. Before Congress, Strickland served as Mayor of Tacoma, Washington. Strickland earned her bachelor’s degree in Sociology from the University of Washington and an M.B.A. from Clark-Atlanta University.
