Louisiana
Democrat
Representative
103rd-104th Congresses (1993-1997)
Congressman Cleo Fields served Louisiana’s 4th Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives from 1993 to 1997 (103rd-104th Congresses). Fields was the youngest member of the 103rd Congress and, prior to his Congressional service, had been the youngest Louisiana state legislator ever elected; joining the Louisiana state senate in 1986 at age 24. During his tenure in the House, Fields served on the Small Business Committee and the Banking, Finance, and Urban Affairs Committee. In 1995, Fields earned the highest marks in the Louisiana delegation for his liberal voting record, citing his support for gun control, abortion, and social spending. He would later return to service in the Louisiana state senate and private legal practice. Fields received his undergraduate and law degrees from Southern University in Baton Rouge.
