Katie Beatrice Hall

Congresswoman Katie Hall represented Indiana in the U.S. House of Representatives from 1982 to 1985 (97th-98th Congresses) after winning a special election to fill a vacancy. Hall was the first African American to service in the U.S. House of Representatives from the Indiana. Her committee assignments included the Post Office and Civil Service Committee and the Public Works and Transportation Committee. Prior to her time in Congress, Hall was a teacher and a member of the Indiana State House of Representatives and the Indiana State Senate. She received a bachelor’s degree from Mississippi Valley State University and a master’s degree from Indiana University.
